Can your savings help shape a better community? Monday, September 27 7 to 9 p.m. Coop La Maison Verte 5785, Sherbrooke Ouest (@ Melrose) Métro Vendome & Autobus #105 cooplamaisonverte.com When we contribute to our savings, we are more likely than not investing in companies listed on the stock market. Where do these companies stand on issues like climate change, water preservation, workers rights, human rights, and bonuses for management? Where can we start to look to find out? Are there even alternatives out there? Join us for this conversation centered on responsible investment strategies, where Rosalie Vendette will get the ball rolling by sharing some of the existing ways our savings can become a leverage for positive change with regards to the environment and society as a whole. Guest: Rosalie Vendette is a Socially Responsible Investment Advisor and supports Desjardins Groups Marketing, Wealth Management team in developing and implementing SRI strategies. She has worked in socially responsible investing for over six years. She was a member of the board of directors of the Social Investment Organization (SIO) in 20082009 and will continue her contribution to that organization as a member of its communications committee. Moderator: Marian Pinsky is a Sociology Masters student at Concordia University. Her research focuses on local and women-led responses to the food crisis in India and the struggle against the corporate control of the global food system. Being interested in community empowerment, she has remained committed to the ideas of social activism in numerous volunteer ventures to materialize the belief that true and sustainable change requires tangible action over mere talk.
