The use of solar energy has become popular in the 1970s , but has fallen because the price of fossil fuel was cheaper.
Solar energy has many uses, as the production of electricity using photovoltaic solar panels, or the production of hot water thanks to solar panels heat, or simply the use of solar radiation to heat the air in buildings in winter by using large glass windows preferably facing south to capture maximum energy.
Several countries like the united states, japan , united kingdom, and germany have spent a lot of money to develop solar energy technologies because we think its the energy of the future.
Especially after the catastrophe Fukushima, many governments are turning to other energy sources. These alternative energies are of course more expensive, but they have less risk, and is better for all our interests.
