RABAT (Reuters) - Several blasts were heard on Friday night in the Moroccan business capital of Casablanca, security sources in the city told Reuters by telephone.
"We're not sure yet of the location of the blasts," a senior security source told Reuters from Casablanca.
A resident said one blast was near the Hotel Sophia located in the old heart of the city center. There was no immediate report of casualties.
Casablanca lies on the Atlantic coast about 60 miles southwest of the capital Rabat.
Morocco's only oil refinery, at Mohammedia just north of Casablanca, was ravaged by fire during heavy floods last November. The 125,000 barrels-per-day plant was expected to be back in full operation by the end of July.
