indeed the south accent is the worst
have you been there ? do you live in US ?
I find the New York accent the worst.
In Brooklyn and Queens they all sound and look the same.
In The Bronx too...
Bunch of Hebrew-Italian-Irish-Hispanic black race.
Now you have the arabs all over ...
Certainly the Egyptians.
All over the place.

3 cities to avoid in the US.
1. Chicago.
2. Detroit
3. New York.

You say you have kids?
Take them to Orlando Florida.
Disneyworld.
You would have a blast you and your wife and the kids too..
The thing is, you need a wizard to pretend if it's gonna rain or not.
Summer time if it doesn't rain in the morning it does in the afternoon.
Welcome to Florida.

I know... this why we are hesitating, and we are not that far from Florida.
seen the very expensive prices of all the above activities, we have to wait for a better season.

Personally I'm not concerned that much in accent.
I just try to well understand what is said to me, and express clearly and correctly my ideas.

Concerning accent, it's gonna disappear when having the possibility to talk to native speakers or during a trip to an english speakers country.

English should be obligated to teach to kids since they are 5 years old.
The other languages are irrelevant except our native languages
(Arabic & Amazigh) French too.

Hello

Im learning english.

When i speak english i have a strong french accent.
I hate this.

I would like to speak without french accent.

How can i make it disappear ?

Thanks.

I don’t want to spoil the party, but if you start learning a language as an adult, it is likely you will always have some accent. You may be able to soften it a bit, but believe me, it will stick. It might be a fact of the biology of language. We just can’t help it. Maybe the muscles of the mouth stiffen as we age, so that we cannot adjust to different sound patterns.

I know 2 French brothers. They have been equally exposed to the language (they have been raised together and are both IT guys). One has no accent at all, at least for me, he sounds like a native speaker. The other one has a very strong French accent. I think that some people are just good with languages and can imitate quite easily native speakers.

Yes, part of it has to do with one’s potential, skills. It’s like sports or mathematics, I guess.

I have noticed very few Quebecers around here can pronounce specifically Spanish sounds properly, even after years of learning. I can. Why? I have no idea. Maybe I’m just lucky.
