Morocco, United Nations celebrate International Argan Day on May 10 in New York – The North Africa Post

Since its proclamation by the UN General Assembly in March 2021, May 10 of each year has been celebrated as International Argan Tree Day, the Moroccan Ministry of Agriculture said in a statement.

This celebration highlights Morocco’s efforts to promote the argan tree as an endemic tree of the Kingdom and as intangible cultural heritage of humanity and ancestral source of sustainable and resilient development.

Ambassadeur représentant permanent du Maroc auprès de l’ONU, Omar Hilale a présidé les échanges avec la participation d’intervenants onusiens et de plusieurs organismes internationaux, notamment, la vice-secrétaire générale de l’ONU et présidente du groupe des Nations unies pour le développement durable, le président de l’Assemblée générale des Nations unies, les directeurs et représentants de l’UNESCO auprès de l’ONU, le représentant de l’ONU Femmes, le directeur général de l’Organisation des Nations unies pour l’alimentation et l’agriculture (FAO) et la directrice de la programmation, Fonds vert pour le climat et le représentant de l’OMS. Cette célébration a également connu la participation des ambassadeurs de plusieurs pays auprès de l’ONU.
