Le Conseil de sécurité a voté, ce mercredi 31 octobre, une nouvelle résolution prolongeant le mandat de la MINURSO au Sahara occidental pour une année supplémentaire. Le texte proposé

"Le texte proposé par les États-Unis a reçu l’adhésion de 12 membres de l’instance exécutive de l’ONU, dont quatre ayant le droit de veto, tandis que la Russie et le Mozambique se sont abstenus. En revanche, l’Algérie a boudé le vote. Son représentant a expliqué son refus de participer en raison de «l’attitude du porte-plume», en référence aux États-Unis."


"Le représentant de l’Algérie a évoqué des «pressions» qu’auraient subies les membres du Conseil de sécurité «ici à New York et dans vos capitales». La présidente de la séance a ensuite soumis les propositions algériennes au vote. Elles furent également rejetées."

Intervenant devant le Conseil de sécurité ce mardi 31 octobre, à l’issue du vote de la résolution 2756, l’ambassadeur, représentant permanent de la France auprès de l’ONU, Nicolas de Rivière, a réaffirmé avec force le soutien de son pays à la marocanité du Sahara et à l’initiative marocaine d’autonomie, « seule base » pour résoudre le conflit régional artificiel. « Notre position est connue. Pour la France, le présent et l’avenir du Sahara occidental s’inscrit dans le cadre de la souveraineté marocaine, l’autonomie sous souveraineté marocaine est LE CADRE dans lequel cette question doit être résolue. Et notre soutien au Plan d’autonomie proposé par le Maroc en 2007 est clair et constant. Pour la France, le Plan d’autonomie est la seule base pour aboutir à une solution politique juste, durable et négociée conformément aux résolutions de ce Conseil », a-t-il soutenu.
