San Leon completes Moroccan shoot
Irish Explorer San Leon Energy has completed a seismic campaign which saw it gather 2280 kilometres of 2D data over its Tarfaya and Zag licences, onshore Morocco.
The company acquired 608 line kilometres in the northern portion of the Tarfaya licence over the J North prospect which is estimated to hold 156 million barrels of recoverable prospective oil resources, with upside potential of more 500 million barrels.
San Leon also gathered 1674 kilometres of 2D data in the first seismic shoot over the Zag licence where the company is focusing on both conventional and unconventional oil and gas potential.
The excitement of the potential of Morocco is based upon the significant production in the same basin in Algeria as well as the huge potential for a Silurian shale gas play, San Leon chairman Oisin Fanning said.
The completion of our seismic program is the next step in bringing our projects closer to drilling.
San Leon said it would integrate the new seismic into its existing Zag basin model prior to opening a data room to seek partners for the exploration drilling phase over the licences.
