I don't like how Stella handled things all along either. She was far too weak and submissive and somewhat lacked a sense of self-respect.

I saw the movie with Marlon Brando and directed by Elia Kazan, 1951 I think. Vivien Leigh won an oscar for her portrayal of Blanche Dubois while Brando was nominated for best actor.Powerful movie.

A Stella is just a woman of her time, hard to judge her based on 21st century moral values.
