why do people go to cinema ?

i actually do not know why the majority ,if we can say,of people go to cinema .but i do not know why they prefer cinema on watching television at home .
in fact,to some extent, watching television at home is the same as going to cinema .
i would like o know why do people go to cinema ?

maybe some people say that cinema is better than watching television because what they are seeing in cinema is completely different whith what they watch in television at home .otherwise , they will have no idea about the new modern films.
in my opinion , i have no different between both .but i prefer to go to cinema than .

what do you think ?what do you prefer and why ?

well i don't know what to say but i think that people who likes go to the cinema find that there the watching is much better than buy film and watch it at home, but up to me i think that cinema has something speacial that can't be explained by any other one exept if we go there and see what pleasure can make to us !!!

I go to the cinema almost twice a week. Simply because watching a movie on a big giant screen, with a good sound system, in the dark, without having anything interrupting it... s nothing to do with being at home.

The atmosphere makes me forget all what is around me and concentrate 100% on the movie. Also... I like the popcorn they sell there :D

1.5 GB x264 HD Rip isn't a 320x280 resolution streaming
I download .mkv x264 Rips quality is the same as a Blu Ray Movie just fantastic
Yeah of course, but with streaming you're more looking for the speed at first, and it "safer" if do you what i mean ;)

PS : the quality isn't so bad, it's not like we can see on youtube or Daily, but it almost a HD quality

Have you tried a beamer? It doesn't replace the cinema experience, but with a good sound system, it comes close... even more so if it's one of those super-expensive auto-focussing laser beamers which produce an incredible sharp and colorful picture... (no, I don't have a laser beamer, but I've experienced one of those babies in a specialized setting, and they're absolutely awesome). :D

Oh, btw, I don't go to cinemas frequently: the sound is all too often way too loud to my liking.

When we congregate to discuss ways of "saving" cinema, aware of the imposition of commercialism and its power pull, we assume that certain basic mechanisms of cinema viewing are axiomatic.

We assume, for example, that people choose the film they want to see. We also assume that they will go out of their homes to see it, or at least we continue to hope that they will, despite the fact that electronics can provide for a viewing at home. And we assume that some films have more of a public pull than others.

But the assumption we almost never question, is that when people do go out of their homes for a cinematic experience, it is the film that makes them do so. And yet all of modern exhibition experience should help us disprove this "fact."

It is in this concept, "cinematic experience," that most research is necessary. In order to define and promote the cinema of tomorrow we must understand more fully what actually constitutes this concept. We need to understand more fully why people go to the movies.

Even when television first began draining viewers from cinemas, we understood that the cinema offered a social experience which the home showcase does not offer. For many years we illuded ourselves that this fact alone would save cinema. Today we have realised that when it is a question of seeing a specific work, people are just as happy to see it in the living room.

And yet people still go to cinemas. Less of them go, but they go. But it seems that what we globally call "social experience" is important to only about a tenth of the total number of people who watch films, if we count home viewers. Are the social needs of these few different from the social needs of those who remain in their electronic lairs?
