JOHANNESBURG -- FIFA says Mali's home World Cup qualifier against Algeria will be played at a neutral venue because of turmoil in the west African country since a coup in March.
The June 9 game had been scheduled for Mali's capital of Bamako.
Soccer's governing body also told The Associated Press it is seeking additional security measures from Kenya for the country's qualifier against Malawi in Nairobi. Kenya's capital has been hit by a wave of grenade attacks in the past weeks.
FIFA said Tuesday it is aware that Egypt's soccer federation is considering deploying soldiers to the stadium in Alexandria for Friday's qualifier against Mozambique.
The match, Egypt's first at home since October, was to be played behind closed doors.
